Teen Producers Project – Summer 2020!
In our filmmaking programs, teens will learn the principals of documentary filmmaking or create their own narrative films. Our classes are designed to accommodate youth of all experience levels.

INTRO TEEN PRODUCERS PROJECT
DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKING
This introductory TEEN PRODUCERS PROJECT (TPP) class teaches teens the basic principals of documentary filmmaking while producing 2-3 minute digital stories in a team learning environment. Students are assigned to a student crew of filmmakers and together produce a short documentary focused on community issues for our Speak City Heights initiative.
Technical instruction focuses on intro to cinematography, basic lighting techniques, interviewing skills, storyboarding, camera skills, and how to edit their projects in Adobe Premiere Pro. In addition, this program aims to empower each student to become his or her own unique storyteller.
AGES: 12-18

ADVANCED TEEN PRODUCERS PROJECT
NARRATIVE FILMMAKING
The advanced TPP class is designed for teens who already know the basics of filmmaking and want to take their skills to a new level. Students are required to have at least one year of experience in filmmaking and proficient in the following skills: manually exposing and focusing on a DSLR camera system, operating a boom microphone and external audio field recorder, and working in post production/editing on Adobe Premiere Pro.
The program is instructed by a local professional filmmaker. This class guides students though the process of creating a short narrative film. Write a script, scout locations, audition and work with professional actors, learn advanced cinematography skills, advanced lighting techniques, advanced editing techniques, and more!

REFUND/CANCELATION POLICY
There are no refunds for camps. To receive credit for future camps, cancellation is required at least one week in advance of the start date of camp. Credit will be valid for one year, and will be equal to the amount paid, less 10% for processing fees. Media Arts Center San Diego may at times need to cancel classes due to low enrollment, at which point a check reimbursement will be issued, less 10% for processing fees.
● MACSD is not responsible for providing refunds or offering makeup sessions for camps missed as a result of illness, emergencies or events beyond the student’s control.
● MACSD will confirm cancellation via email.
ABOUT TEEN PRODUCERS PROJECT
Since 2001, the Media Arts Center San Diego’s Teen Producers Project has been inspiring youth to be more than consumers of media as they become creators of media. Through our programs, hundreds of youth throughout San Diego County and Orange County have learned about filmmaking and digital storytelling and have produced engaging video projects. The project’s mission is to educate youth in media arts & emerging technologies for use in self-expression, communication and social change.
