Resources & Information on Age-Friendly Communities:Livable Communities for People of All Ages.  Over the next twenty years, San Diego County’s demographics will change in many ways. One major change is that older adults will comprise a larger share of the total population. We are living longer: the number of people age 85 years and older will double by 2030. As we are living longer, our region needs to work collaboratively to provide communities where everyone can thrive.

What is “Age-friendly”?  Age-friendly communities provide safe, walkable streets; affordable and accessible housing and transportation options; access to needed services; and opportunities for people of all ages to participate in community life.  Learn More:

The Goal (or Film Topics): This project aims to raise awareness of age-friendly work by featuring films highlighting the importance of age-friendly communities. The films can help define what it means for a community to be “age-friendly,” provide examples of local efforts, and offer a vision for a future age-friendly San Diego region. Filmmakers will be encouraged to highlight how age-friendly work impacts low-income and underserved older adults and use storytelling to bring issues to life.
